Tomato Palooza – Fun Times!

June 28, 2025, marked the very first Tomato Palooza at LHCG!  Gardeners and friends gathered to taste tomatoes (from Celebrity, Sun Sugar, itty bitty tomatoes and Purple Cherokee), enjoy tomato inspired snacks (think tomato tart, focaccia with roasted tomatoes, spicy tomato jam, and vibrant tomato salad), and swapped some tomato recipes (see below).  

We shared growing tips and discussed our ultimate favorite way to enjoy a sun and vine ripened tomato: 

A hearty slice of tomato with a dash of salt and pepper as the clear winning option.

Tomato season is a happy season!

For many of us, tomatoes are the pinnacle of the garden year.  We intensely plan for them all year – space, timing, soil temperature, babysitting young transplants, nurture, feed, trim and love on them.  It wouldn’t put it past me to sing, recite poetry, or sage them if I felt it would help.  All in the hopes for a delicious, sun ripened glorious fruit.  

Versatile in variety, flavor and use – the tomato is a rockstar! But all we really need is a plate and a fork!
