Butterfly Garden Begins

Randy Johnson/Lois Diggs Butterfly Garden

December 2009, Randy Johnson, Horticulturist from Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park, gave a Saturday morning of his time to help plant the 22 donated native Butterfly nectar and host plants from the Discovery Garden.  Lois Diggs, volunteer member of the Lake Highlands Community Garden, coordinates the development and upkeep of the garden. The Butterfly Garden is certified through the Discovery Gardens butterfly program.

The plants weathered through the blizzard of 2010 and are progressing through the summer. More details, pictures and list of plants and butterflies will follow in the coming months.
